2000 Elizabeth Semillon, McWilliams Mount Pleasant, Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia
A Brandenburg concert performed by a small, superb ensemble
Very pale yellow in colour with an intense bouquet of citrus fruit and flowers, fresh herbs, cut hay and mineral undertones that intensify on the palate. The wine has an exceedingly fine and complex acidic structure intermingled with fruit and minerals. A mellow, yet lingering aftertaste. Should not be served too cold.
The grapes originate from the vineyards of Pokolbin in the lower Hunter Valley and were all hand-picked between late January and mid-February 2000. An initial chilled must fermentation was followed by a slow and cool ferment for four weeks. One month after fermentation the wine was blended, heat and cold stabilized and sterile filtered. This wine was bottled in June 2000.
Alcohol by volume: 11.5%, serving temperature: 12–14°C.
