2005 Cabernet de Saumur A.C., rosé, Loire, France
2005 Cabernet de Saumur A. C., rosé, Loire, France
Sitting on a terrace overlooking the river
Pale red in colour with a fragrance of yeast and ripe peaches. On the palate the wine is fruity, dry, smooth, round, soft and harmonious with a trace of residual sweetness. But with 13.5% alc. vol. it is certainly no lightweight!
“The Appellation Saumur in the large Loire wine-growing region consists of 36 communes and is named after the town of the same name. On a hill overlooking the town stands a chateau with walls of tuff stone that was built in the 14th century and is considered the most beautiful chateau in the Loire. It is used by the winemakers’ brotherhood “Confrérie des Chevaliers du Sacavin” as a venue for ceremonies and events. Saumur lies between the Appellation Anjou (with very similar wines) and the Touraine. Covering some 2,800 hectares, its vineyards are located on the banks of the rivers Loire and Thouet.” (Wine merchant Wein-Plus)
