Gin Fizz

Ingredients:
4cl Gordon’s gin
3cl lemon juice
1cl sugar syrup
dash egg white
soda water to top up
Preparation:
Pour all the ingredients (except the soda water) into a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top up with soda water.
History:
This sweet and sour cocktail is a refreshing drink on hot days and also makes a great aperitif. It was most likely invented by the Ramos brothers in New Orleans around 1890, and was originally called the Ramos Gin Fizz or simply the New Orleans Fizz. The brothers managed to keep the recipe secret until the prohibition period (1920–1933).
