Bright yellow in the glass with tangy-mineral bouquet and the scent of spring flowers and peppermint sweets. Fresh, harmonious, soft and full-bodied on the palate with very fine acidity and aromas of green bananas, pears and avocados. Pleasantly tart in the finish.
Pecorino is an indigenous white grape variety that is only cultivated in the Italian regions of Abruzzo, Latium, Marche and Umbria. Chiusa Grande grapes are organically grown.
“In the lonely valley and and on the high plateaus of Abruzzo … Franco D’Eusanio from the Chiusa Grande organic farm produces wines in harmony with nature. It is his passion to promote long-established varieties of grapes. This includes the Pecorino, a grape that is mainly cultivated in Abruzzo, but which now often has to make room for more familiar varieties.
Franco strives to produce wines that are typical for the soils and the climate of the region. He intervenes as little as possible in the natural ecological cycle. He is also parsimonious in the use of sulphites (sulphur).
His Pecorino grapes undergo a brief cold maceration process. This means that he soaks the crushed grapes a bit in order to release the aromas from the grape skin. During fermentation and ageing Franco makes sure that the temperature does not rise above 17 or 14 °C. This preserves both fruit and freshness.” (Delinat, organic wine dealer)
