Neven owns the MacNean’s restaurant in Blacklion, Co. Cavan. Food critic, John McKenna describes an experience there thus: “The last dinner a trio of us ate here was amongst the finest food we have ever encountered, anywhere in the world.”

Neven began cooking at age 12 in the kitchen of the family restaurant, MacNean’s in Cavan. In 2003, he took over the family business as Head Chef and Proprietor of the greatly expanded MacNean House & Restaurant.

Neven has achieved a string of prestigious Awards, both for his culinary expertise and his work at MacNean House and Restaurant, including: Food & Wine magazine’s Ulster Best Chef Award 2007 & Georgina Campbell’s Restaurant of the Year Award 2007.
